The Wicklow Softball Club is a co-ed recreational club based in Greystones Co. Wicklow, Ireland. The club welcomes players of all skill levels offering a supportive environment for both seasoned veterans and newcomers alike.
Softball in Ireland, more popular than you may think.
There are over 800 registered softball players in Ireland playing on roughly 40 teams. While the majority of these teams are located in the greater Dublin area, there are softball teams active across the country.
The Wicklow Softball Club represent the Sunny South East in the Softball Leinster League. Established in 2015, we are a club comprised of two teams (The Wolves and The Cubs). Both teams are co-ed recreational squads based in Greystones co. Wicklow. While our home grounds (AKA The Den) is in Greystones, The Wicklow Softball Club comprises of players from Bray to Arklow.
Wicklow Softball welcomes players of all backgrounds and skill levels, offering a supportive environment for both seasoned veterans and newcomers alike. Training nights are run weekly during the season and access to coaching is always available. Softball (along with it’s sibling baseball) is traditionally associated with being a North American sport, but over the years it’s becoming more and more popular in Europe. It is very similar to rounders and basically a hit-ball-with-stick type of game. If you’ve enjoyed hockey, cricket or hurling in the past then softball may be right up your alley.
The Wicklow Wolves is for the more seasoned players, and The Wicklow Cubs for the up & comers of the sport. The official softball season runs from April through to September with matches happening on Monday (Cubs) or Thursday (Wolves) evenings. Matches start at 7pm and last until roughly 8.30-9.00pm. Matches are played in various locations between Greystones and Co. Dublin locations. Training starts in early spring and runs along side the regular season.

The Wicklow Sofball Club lovingly call their home grounds The Den. We play and train there. The Den is also known as the Upper Pitch at Shoreline Sports Park in Greystones.
